Archiva

Local-first Windows archive manager for opening, creating, extracting, previewing, editing, converting, comparing, and testing supported archives.

Archiva is a desktop archive-management application developed and published by MokaIO.

This Privacy Policy explains how Archiva handles information when you use the application.

1. Privacy by Design

Archiva is designed as a local-first desktop application. Its primary archive-management features operate on your device.

Archiva does not require you to create a MokaIO or Archiva account to use the application.

Archiva does not intentionally collect, upload, sell, rent, or share the contents of your archives, files, folders, passwords, encryption keys, or other local documents.

2. Files and Archives

Files and archives that you open, create, extract, preview, edit, convert, compare, or otherwise process with Archiva are handled locally on your device.

Archiva may temporarily create local working files when required for features such as:

  • archive previews;
  • editing files stored inside an archive;
  • archive conversion;
  • transactional archive updates;
  • crash recovery;
  • temporary extraction;
  • nested archive processing.

These temporary files are stored locally and are managed by Archiva's local workspace and cleanup mechanisms.

Archiva does not intentionally transmit the contents of these files to MokaIO servers.

3. Passwords and Encryption Information

Archive passwords and encryption secrets are not intentionally sent to MokaIO.

By default, passwords are used locally for the requested operation.

If you choose a feature that remembers an archive password, Archiva may use supported Windows credential-storage facilities rather than storing the password as plain text in normal application settings.

4. Microsoft Store and Purchases

Archiva may offer optional paid features through Microsoft Store, including the Archiva Pro Lifetime entitlement.

Purchases, payment processing, licensing, transaction history, and Microsoft account information are handled by Microsoft under Microsoft's own terms and privacy practices.

Archiva may query the Microsoft Store licensing APIs on your device to determine whether a valid entitlement is owned. MokaIO does not receive your payment-card details through Archiva.

For more information about Microsoft's handling of personal data, refer to Microsoft's privacy documentation.

5. Application Settings and Local Data

Archiva may store local application information such as:

  • application preferences;
  • theme and language choices;
  • recent archive references;
  • pinned items;
  • operation preferences;
  • preview and workspace settings;
  • local search/index metadata;
  • local recovery or transaction metadata;
  • licensing cache or entitlement state required for application functionality.

This information is stored locally on your device unless a platform service, such as Microsoft Store, is involved.

6. Diagnostics and Telemetry

Archiva does not use mandatory MokaIO cloud telemetry for normal application operation.

Local logs may be created for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Archiva is designed not to intentionally place archive passwords, encryption keys, or file contents into normal diagnostic logs.

If a future version introduces any optional online diagnostic or analytics feature, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.

7. Internet Access

Most Archiva archive-management functionality is designed to work locally.

Internet access may be required for platform-dependent functionality such as:

  • Microsoft Store licensing or purchase operations;
  • Microsoft Store updates;
  • opening external support, privacy, terms, or website links.

8. Children

Archiva is not specifically directed to children, and MokaIO does not knowingly design Archiva to collect personal information from children.

9. Data Sharing and Sale

MokaIO does not sell user personal data through Archiva.

Archiva does not intentionally share the contents of your local archives or files with advertisers or data brokers.

10. Data Retention

Because Archiva primarily operates locally, most application data remains under your control on your own device.

You can remove local Archiva data by uninstalling the application and, where applicable, deleting remaining Archiva application-data folders or caches.

Microsoft Store purchase records are controlled by Microsoft and may remain associated with your Microsoft account according to Microsoft's policies.

11. Security

Archiva includes safeguards intended to reduce risks when processing untrusted archives, including controls related to path traversal, archive bombs, temporary files, transaction safety, and other archive-processing risks.

No software can guarantee absolute security, and users should continue to exercise caution with files received from untrusted sources.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

MokaIO may update this Privacy Policy when Archiva changes or when legal, operational, or platform requirements change.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.
